What rocks and fossils can be found in old lake beds?
Where I live in the northwest there used to be a lake so I live on an ancient lake bed, well not the bed but more the bank, and was wondering if I were to find anything in the ground, rocks, minerals, gems or fossils what would I be able to find, what’s more common to find than other things and who would I go about finding anything, where exactly would I look, or would there even be anything here?
You’d likely find sedimentary rocks, but you don’t have to. You could just have a big pit of granite that’s been filled in with water. As far as fossils, unless you get up into the Burgess Shale, they really aren’t the kind of thing that you’ll find laying around. Sorry.
